A series of limestone caves hosting calcite formations, formed over millions of years.  The caves were first mentioned in the 9th century Irish Triads and also referenced in the Annals as the location of a Viking massacre in 928 A.D. .  The visitor centre houses displays including coins dating from 897 and 926
